She has been a classroom teacher, a Reading Recovery Teacher Leader, and a Literacy Advisor. She taught graduate and undergraduate teachers at Rhode Island College and other top International Universities. 

Sandra has made many presentations at international and national conferences in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, and New Zealand. She has also provided professional development to school districts in California, Florida, New York, Wisconsin, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut.
